The History of Barock took the company trough moving times - world wars and the communist era. Despite all turmoil, one principle remained valid: be frontrunner in the developement of ink for a variety of applications. Rooted in traditional craftsmanship, Barock kept its high standards and passion to succeed bringing its ink solutions to the market.
 
 
 
 
The first office and warehouse of the "Firma August Leonhardi-Chemical Inkmanufacture in Dresden". Around 1900 from here management and logistics supplied a range of international customers. Gods were transported with horse and carriage. (Picture 1914)
Chemical factory of Leonhardi on Loswitch, on the river Elbe. On the left of the picture you can recognize the jubilee renovation of 1901. The chemical factory in this time was the major producer of iron-gallus ink world wide. This ink was the most popular of this days.
This picture shows the chemical factory in Bodenbach. It´s main production in the 19th century consisted of alizarine and anthracene writing ink. Originally logistics between Loschwitz (north of the Elbe) and Bodenbach (south of the Elbe) was done by means of wooden rafts. The "Blue Wonder", Dresdens famous Elbe bridge, was build only in 1893.
This image shows the "Glashüttenwerk" of the Leonhardi company and was located in Sachsens Schwepnitz. Since Leonhardi. supplied well over one hundred different inks, there was need for different shapes and designs of the glass bottles to pack them and send them out. Millions of bottles were manufactured in the factories five huge glass oven.
Barock Dredner inkmanufactury in radebeul / Dresden. After the second worldwar Dresden went into the communist art of Germany and was put in the hands of the "Robotron" collective. Furtunatly the company could continue in the same fields of bussiness and was able to keep researching and developing products. It´s intact structure made to develop Barock further after the German re-unification.
